   Water ponds
HDPE geomembranes are the most commonly used material for sealing water ponds. Groundwater or rising gases present in the groundare collected on reaching the plastic. This produces excess pressure which can breach the geomembrane and produce instability in earth. Good drainage is the solution.

APPLICATIONS:

The main applications of INTERDRAIN for water ponds are:
1. Groundwater drainage.
2. Capture and drainage of biogas.
3. Drainage and leak detection system.
   3.1. "Herringbone" system
   3.2. Overall system.

Why INTERDRAIN is the ideal drainage geocomposite for water ponds?


TRADITIONAL SOLUTIONS:

Drainage in the bottom of water ponds carried out using "herringbone" systems based on trenches filled with drain pipes surrounded with gravel.
Gravel cannot be used on slopes (it will not remain on gradients of more than 1:4), so a geotextile is fixed on banks for protection and drainage.
A geotextile is a geosynthetic with very low drainage capacity, so it is not technically suitable as a drainage solution [comparative view].


SOLUTIONS WITH INTERDRAIN:

The INTERDRAIN geocomposite:
1. Has high drainage capacity when submitted to great loads (water height) and minimum gradients (bottom of the water ponds), much better than a geotextile.
2. It can easily adapt to the land relief.
3. It can easily be fitted on slopes.
4. It avoids the need to fit geotextile for protection.
