INTERDRAIN (GMG o GM) FUNCTIONS
1. Intercepts and drains off infiltrated rain water, preventing the water reaching the critical area sensitive to water.
2. Prevents the accumulation of water at the base of the embankment at the seal/earth interface.
3. Layer protecting the seal.
4. Anti-pollution layer fines.
VIADRAIN FUNCTIONS
1. Collects the water from INTERDRAIN and drains it into the drain pipe fitted at the bottom.
SEALING FUNCTIONS
1. Isolates certain areas af the infill or natural earth from the water.
2. Anti-pollution layer of fines.
3. If synthetics sheets (HDPE, PVC, etc.) are used, it will be necessary to weld the textiles (ensuring the continuity of the seal) and fit a protective geotextile between the seal and the earth.
4. If bentonite sheets are used, no weld or additional protective elements are required.
